This is our story

Nestled in the historic heart of Croix-Rousse, just a stone's throw from the remnants of ancient fortifications that once stood sentinel over Lyon, is where Paddy's Corner proudly sits. For more than 15 years, this establishment has been a firm favourite among the locals, positioned near the evocatively named "Place des Tapis," a nod to the historical fortifications that have long since disappeared.

The story of this place stretches back to the late 19th century when it served as both a wine bar and a high-end grocery store, earning its stripes among the residents and the canuts. These were the silk workers, a cornerstone of Lyon's storied textile history, who frequented the establishment, no doubt seeking some respite and camaraderie after long hours at the loom.

By the 1970s, a transformation took place, with the establishment renamed as the "Café Hôtel Les Dombes". It became something of a citywide draw, with people from all corners of Lyon flocking to sample the wines carefully selected by the proprietor, Marcel Devaux. Devaux, with a discerning palate and a keen eye for quality, turned the place into a haven for wine enthusiasts.

Fast forward to today, and Paddy's Corner has evolved into a "Public House" with a twist. It's a melting pot for all generations, boasting an eclectic atmosphere that's as inviting as it is diverse. The interior, with its rustic wood and stone decor, creates a warm and welcoming space. Paddy's offers an unrivalled selection of beers, the finest whiskies and worldly cocktails; there's something to satisfy every taste.
